Nominate a Student with Perseverance
The "You've Got Perseverance!" opportunity is for students who have demonstrated perseverance in their academic pursuits. Teachers, educators, and community leaders are encouraged to nominate students who've shown that nothing will deter them from their educational journey.
NASA's Perseverance mission team is no stranger to challenges, as the team has faced and overcome many hurdles to get the rover to Mars. The team wants to encourage students to persevere, to embrace the idea of not giving up when things get tough and to overcome seemingly impossible challenges. We want to hear how your students persevered!
Selected students will:
- Get a special message sent directly from the Perseverance rover on Mars!
- Chat with the rover team members from mission control at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory
- Get an award pack of materials with mission essentials
Who Can Enter
We are taking nominations for individual students in 6th through 12th grade in U.S. public, private, and home schools (including U.S. territories and possessions and schools operated by the U.S. for the children of American personnel overseas). Nominations for the award can be submitted by an educator or community leader with knowledge of the student's record of perseverance in their academic career.
Children of NASA, JPL, or Caltech employees are not eligible for nomination.
- Student must be currently enrolled in grades 6th through 12th (in a public, private or home school)
- Nominator must be an educator, principal, school counselor or community leader (no parent, grandparent, or student submissions)

How to Nominate a Student

Fill out the nomination form. You will need:
- Permission and contact info of student's parent or legal guardian
- Contact info for a second eligible person who can confirm your nomination
- Clear and brief examples of how the student has shown perseverance
- Specific examples of how the student has shown measurable improvement in academic performance
