Are You Ready to Meet New NIH Data Sharing Requirements?

ICPSR has been guiding an increasing number of researchers through the new National Institutes of Health (NIH) Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMS Plan) requirements for all proposed research. “NIH is requiring a Data Management and Sharing Plan for all proposed research where any scientific data will be collected. This used to be required of certain NIH budgets and now it’s required of everyone collecting scientific data,” said Amy Pienta, a Research Professor at ICPSR. “Noncompliance could impact future funding decisions. For this reason, ICPSR has created a resource page and a customizable template for guiding investigators writing NIH grant proposals,” Pienta added. [Full story]

The Data Science and Literacy Act of 2023 was introduced on Feb. 14, 2023, by US Representatives Haley Stevens (D-MI), Jim Baird (R-IN), Don Beyer (D-VA), and Young Kim (R-CA). Rep. Stevens provides a summary of the proposed legislation. ICPSR has signed on to the letter supporting this legislation. [More]

Social media dataSOMAR Partners with TIND to Build New Archive for Social Media Data


The Social Media Archive (SOMAR) has partnered with TIND to build a new repository for social media data. The collaboration will allow SOMAR to learn more about social media data users' needs and continue improving their research. [Full story]

A: In my role with the ICPSR Summer Program, I have the awesome opportunity to work and support instructors and participants from around the world. Interacting with such a diverse and rich group of people offers a wealth of learning opportunities, interactions and connectivity that expand and support my continuous work in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in learning and accessibility. I truly feel blessed to be a part of a program that supports learning for all.
