Now Available: New College and Beyond II Data for Studying Higher Education

ICPSR is pleased to announce the release of six new studies in the College and Beyond II (CBII) series. CBII is a data resource that can be used to study a range of experiences and outcomes across higher education. It contains administrative data on over 1 million undergrads from 19 public colleges across 20 years linked to survey data on long-term outcomes, current life circumstances, and more.

The newly added CBII data include:

  1. Enrollment and Awards Data – Data on students’ enrollment and degree attainment across their entire postsecondary career
  2. Course Content Data – Information about courses listed in students’ transcripts, including text descriptions of course content from college and university catalogs and standardized subject codes
  3. Advanced Placement Data – Student-level data on Advanced Placement test results and credit received
  4. Student Experience Analytics – Summary measures of the student experience created by researchers using the CBII data
  5. Alumni Survey Open Response Data – Written responses from bachelor’s recipients  about the college experiences that had the greatest impact on their professional and personal development
  6. Contextual Data –  Data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the National Neighborhood Data Archive (NaNDA) that can be used to contextualize students’ communities and characterize the institutions they apply to and attend

Save the Date!

Join us on January 26 at 1:00 pm (ET) for a free webinar to learn about the structure of the CBII data, how the data can be used to measure important constructs, and how to apply for data access. Members of the University of Michigan team that developed the CBII data will be present to answer questions. The webinar will conclude with information about how to apply to attend a free ICPSR Summer Program course that will provide hands-on training with the CBII data. The course  will be held in June 2023 in Ann Arbor, MI.
