The Spectrum Center will be presenting an introduction to LGBTQ+ language and identities. Gender identity, attractionality, and pronouns will be introduced. Participants will engage in discussion around inclusive practices that can be employed as well as how to be an active ally. There will be opportunities for participants to reflect on their own experience with allyhood development and identify strategies for personal and organizational change.

Learning Objectives:

PERSONAL AWARENESS – Participants will:

  • Identify how social identities and personal motivations impact one’s ally work

KNOWLEDGE – Participants will:

  • Develop a working knowledge of LGBTQ terminology
  • Explain key concepts related to LGBTQ and Ally Identity Development Models

SKILLS – Participants will:

  • Define multiple ways to demonstrate ally behavior

ACTION – Participants will:

  • Identify areas of growth as an ally
