ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Women's Basketball Coach Kim Barnes Arico announced the addition of former Wolverine Jillian Dunston as an assistant coach of the women's basketball program on Monday (April 17). Dunston was a four-year letterwinner for the Maize and Blue from 2015-18 and has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Drexel.

"It is so great to have Jillian back with our program," Barnes Arico said. "She is one of the best to ever wear the Block M and embodies everything our program stands for. She is a rising star in this business and her work ethic as a coach matches what she brought to the court every single day. I am so happy to have her energy and personality back with us in Ann Arbor."

"I have so much gratitude for this opportunity to return to my alma mater," Dunston said. "I spent some of my best years in Ann Arbor and I can't wait to get back. Now that I am on the coaching side of things, I am excited to join Coach Arico on staff and overjoyed to be able to learn from her. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I am excited to be back with the hardest working team in America!"

Over the last three seasons at Drexel, Dunston helped the Dragons to 63 wins and three postseason berths, highlighted by an appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. She was named twice to the WBCA's Thirty Under 30 list as one of the top 30 coaches in the game under the age of 30.

Dunston spent two seasons at Florida State as a graduate assistant from 2018-20. She had a variety of responsibilities while in Tallahassee, helping with practice planning and preparation, scout team duties, game preparation, helping organize team travel and recruiting tasks. While at Florida State, she earned her master's of science in sport management.

During her career at Michigan, Dunston appeared in 138 games to rank fourth all-time in appearances. She graduated second in rebounding with 862 boards, now coming in at No. 4 as one of just five players to have grabbed at least 850 rebounds in a career. She led Michigan to four postseason appearances, most notably the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament and the 2017 WNIT title. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Dunston graduated from Michigan with a degree in sport management.
