New Opportunity for Students Making a Difference with Data

Introducing the ICPSR Data Communication Scholarship
Times are changing, and so is the ICPSR Research Paper Competition. For 16 years, the annual competition has showcased undergraduate and graduate students’ research papers that have used data archived at ICPSR. Now, we're excited to announce that the ICPSR Research Paper Competition is transitioning to the ICPSR Data Communication Scholarship. Instead of the traditional research paper format, ICPSR is recognizing students for creating videos about ICPSR data! Starting in November 2023, students from ICPSR member institutions can apply for the scholarship. Faces of ICPSR: Amy Pienta

Meet Amy PientaQ: What is a favorite memory or instance you have working at ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place to work?

A:  I really love grant writing and the energy that comes with a proposal that has to be prepared with a short turnaround. One particular proposal meant a number of us were working into the night. I remember being at ICPSR after hours with several staff and ordering a bunch of pizza … it was well after midnight. We all were committed to getting the proposal finished in time. We also ended up winning that project which probably helps make this a fond memory!
