News for alumni & friends
February 2021
Greetings from Ann Arbor -

On February 9, forty nominated dealers eagerly awaited the announcement of the 52nd TIME Dealer of the Year award at the National Automobile Dealer Association's virtual convention.

The Tauber Institute is honored to select the four regional winners and the one national winner for this prestigious award. This year we updated the application to account for a crazy COVID-driven year, focusing on innovative ways dealerships got through the pandemic, as well as evaluating each dealership's operational excellence and contributions to their community. Please join me in congratulating Richard DeSilva Jr. of Emerson, New Jersey, the 2021 TIME Dealer of the Year!

Virtual service projects offer new opportunities
The Tauber Institute provided expert operations analysis to community organizations through our annual student-led Tauber Community Service Day events. "I am intrigued by what can be learned from companies in other regions of the world. For example, what can we learn from the success of Indian companies which must design and manage distribution networks for a country of more than 1 billion people, many of whom are living in rural areas? Or how about the impact of the Nigerian accent throughout Africa, largely due to the widespread distribution of Nigerian media products? That is fascinating."

Tauber team project advisor and Michigan Ross faculty member John Branch has also served as an adjunct or visiting professor at more than 40 business schools throughout the world.
PepsiCo representative joins Tauber Industry Advisory Board
The Tauber Institute is pleased to welcome PepsiCo representative Tim Carey to our Industry Advisory Board. Tim is the Vice President for Sustainability and Consumer Recycling at PepsiCo. "From learning about the University of Michigan’s COVID response team practices from a leader at the medical school to learning that pirates can and will delay necessary international shipments, Tauber has given me years of knowledge in two months."
