Commencement is fast approaching!
According to our records, you have applied to graduate this April. Please read through this email for important information regarding the commencement ceremony.
Action Needed: Record Your Name
In the past, students have had issues with their names being unintentionally mispronounced as they walked across the commencement stage, which can be a bit disappointing on such an important occasion.
To make sure that doesn't happen this time around, we're using a new tool called "NameCoach.” With NameCoach, students now have the chance to personally record and pronounce their own name, which ensures that it is announced correctly during the ceremony. Students may elect to have someone else record their name for them.
How it works:
- All students must record their name in advance of the ceremony in NameCoach to be announced as they walk across the stage.
- The day of commencement, students will be given a card with a QR code on it.
- As students walk across the stage, the QR code on your card will be scanned, and your recorded name will be heard by the audience.
Action Required if you would like to record your own name:
Please take a moment to record your name now by visiting the NameCoach website. Please review the instructions on how to use NameCoach.
Tips for recording your name:
- Record your name with great enthusiasm!
- Speak in a loud clear voice!
- Recording should reflect great accomplishment and happiness on your graduation day!
- Allow for a one second pause between your first and last name.
If you do not feel comfortable recording your name, or if you are unable to record your name, a family member or friend can do the recording for you. Simply log into the system to have them record your name.
A NameCoach recording booth will be available at Grad Fair, March 13 and 14, at the Bookstore.
If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to the name reading process, including additional NameCoach instructions or alternative options for name reading, please send an email to [email protected] and we will work with you to meet your needs.
Deadline
If you elect this option, you must record your name by Sunday, March 17.
After this date, your name will be recorded by a university staff member.
