Summer Carillon Series: Paul Stelben
Paul Stelben (Yale University) performs a narrative program of music on the 60-bell Lurie Carillon, ranging from the reflective "Earth Blood Reprise" by Ann Arbor composer Dr. Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra to Geert D'hollander's virtuosic "Een Schoon Liedeken." Concerts are free and family-friendly. We kindly ask that attendees support physical distancing practices by bringing picnic blankets and lawn chairs and responsibly spacing themselves throughout Gerstacker Grove, and we encourage wearing masks when conversing with people from other households.
PayStation parking is available behind the Walgreen Drama Center (https://ltp.umich.edu/lot/?xyz=fG) and the lots behind the Beyster Building (https://ltp.umich.edu/lot/?xyz=fZ), as well in other North Campus lots.
Paul Stelben is a rising senior at Yale University majoring in music and studying education. He is a member of the Yale University Guild of Carillonneurs and studies with Ellen Dickinson. Paul is also a Carillonneur Member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA), having passed his exam at the 2019 GCNA Congress at Bok Tower Gardens. In addition to the carillon, he plays the bassoon and the piano, and he is the assistant conductor for the Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, Paul is passionate about serving others and teaches bassoon in the New Haven Public Schools for Yale’s Music in Schools Initiative. He is still weighing his options, but he is considering a career in education. In his free time, Paul enjoys Frisbee, juggling, and long, introspective walks.
