The University of Michigan basketball program is on a nine-day trip to Spain (Aug. 17-26) with stops in Madrid and Barcelona. Follow the Wolverines on social media (#VamosAzul) and with a daily travel log on MGoBlue.com. Additionally, follow The Athletic's (@TheAthleticDET) Brendan Quinn (@BFQuinn) and MLive's Andrew Kahn (@AndrewKahn) as they have made the trek with the team and will file daily reporting of the trip and games.

Midway through the Spain trip, the Wolverines had a relaxing day on Wednesday (Aug. 22), starting the day with an early morning trip to the Las Ramblas in Barcelona. The area is referred to as "Broadway" for all of its shopping areas and artist selling their works.

Men's Basketball in SpainMichigan toured the famed Sagrada Família on Wednesday afternoon.

After spending a few hours in Las Ramblas and having lunch, the Wolverines traveled across the city to the historic Sagrada Família -- the famed Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Inside, U-M explored the church's skilled architecture and wonder as it is still under construction -- even after 136 years. It is expected to be finished in 2022.

The Maize and Blue returned to the hotel for some pool time and relaxation. In the evening, the Wolverines boarded the bus for the nearby town of Stiges for dinner. Stiges is a coastal town in Spain's Catalonia region known for its beaches and seafront restaurants.

On Thursday (Aug. 23) the Wolverines are off for a tour of their second fútbol team's facility -- FC Barcelona. After returning, the Maize and Blue will prep for its second exhibition vs. KK Mega Bemax at the Pavelló Esportiu Municipal. In a unique game, the Wolverines will play five 12 minutes quarters instead of the traditional four, 10-minutes quarters. Admission is free and the game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start locally.

Until then … #VamosAzul
