Welcome to Mcity’s new quarterly newsletter, “Mcity Insight.” 

In every issue, we’ll share news about the center, such as updates about the research projects we fund, capabilities we’ve added at the Mcity Test Facility , or our education and outreach efforts. You’ll read about what’s new from Mcity partners in industry and government . From time to time, we’ll let you know what’s going on with other transportation and mobility initiatives at the University of Michigan, or share our thoughts on the latest advances in connected and automated vehicles. In short, our goal is to keep you informed about what’s going on at Mcity, and in the world of advanced mobility.

Help Us With Our Research
Have you ridden on the Mcity Driverless Shuttle or seen it around campus? We’d like to hear from you! To share your experience, just complete this brief survey . Mcity operates the shuttle as part of a research project designed to gauge consumer acceptance of automated vehicle technologies.

Mcity Driverless Shuttle operations will be temporarily suspended beginning May 28, 2019 to accommodate University of Michigan construction that includes improving a parking lot along the route. Shuttle operation is expected to resume later this summer.  
Mcity Concept for AV Testing Could Help Rebuild Consumer Trust
Mcity has outlined a test track-based concept for evaluating the safety of highly automated vehicles before they are tested on public roads. This concept could emerge as a model for a voluntary standard for safety testing, and help rebuild consumer trust in driverless vehicles.

Mcity Partner News: Ford Invests in EV Start-up
In every issue of "Mcity Insight," we''ll highlight the work of Mcity partners. We begin with Ford Motor Co. Ford is investing $500 million in electric vehicle start-up Rivian Automotive LLC to co-develop an all-new battery electric vehicle for Ford's growing portfolio using Rivian's flexible skateboard platform. The investment is intended to accelerate the company’s transition to sustainable mobility while streamlining operations, cutting costs and increasing profitability.
