2018 U-M Women's Lacrosse Schedule

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's lacrosse first-year head coach Hannah Nielsen announced the schedule for the program's 2018 season today (Wednesday, Oct. 18), which is highlighted by seven home games at the brand new U-M Lacrosse Stadium.

Throughout its 16-game schedule, Michigan will face 10 opponents that reached the NCAA Tournament last season, including three of the Final Four participants (Maryland, Navy and Penn State). In addition, the Wolverines will play seven teams that finished the 2017 season ranked in the top 20 nationally.

Michigan will begin its fifth season as a varsity program on the road against two 2017 NCAA Tournament teams. U-M will open the season against Colorado on Feb. 9, in Jacksonville, Florida, before taking on the Jacksonville Dolphins (Feb. 11).

The Wolverines will host their first game at the new facility when they host Butler on Friday, Feb. 16.

U-M's 2018 spring trip will feature matchups at Navy (Feb. 25) and Towson (Feb. 28), both which competed in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.

The Maize and Blue will open competition in the nation's premiere women's lacrosse league, the Big Ten Conference, when it hosts the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, March 17.

The remainder of U-M's conference lineup includes home games against Maryland (March 31) and Johns Hopkins (April 8), and road tilts at Northwestern (March 23), Rutgers (14) and Penn State (April 28).

The Wolverines will have the opportunity to showcase their new facility when they host the 2018 Big Ten Tournament May 4 and 6.

Michigan's new lacrosse facility, which is part of the South Competition and Performance Project, will feature a 2,000 seat stadium -- one of only a few lacrosse-only stadiums in the country.

The Wolverines have been practicing on their new field since Sept. 18, while the construction on the remainder of its facilities -- which will include their locker room, coaches' offices, film room and team lounge -- is nearing completion. In addition, the new Sport Performance Center adjacent to the lacrosse facilities will house a 20,000-square foot weight room as well as athletic medicine and nutrition areas, creating an all-encompassing home for the program on South Campus.
