Finding the necessary money and resources for holding your event or program can often be as time consuming and difficult as the planning or implementation. The Student Organization Guidebook outlines funding policies and resources across campus including fundraising, donations, raffles and University support.
Below are listed some offices and departments that regularly fund student organization events. Many of these sources are specific about what types of events and organizations they will fund, so please note the restrictions listed under the “Special Instructions” category for each source. Be sure to visit their webistes for more detailed information.
CENTRAL STUDENT GOVERNMENT (CSG)

Criteria: CSG has two types of funding: general student organization funding through the Student Organization Funding Committee (SOFC), and startup funding for new student organizations through Wolverine Consulting Group (WCG). CSG will generally not fund food/beverage, t-shirts, or capital goods unless they are integral to the event or service, and will not fund gifts, scholarships, or newspaper ads in any circumstance.
Time Frame: Rolling funding
Maximum: Usual maximum is $10,000 per semester from all CSG sources. WCG awards widely vary based on startup costs. Average SOFC award is from $500-700 but varies based on funding application.

LSA STUDENT GOVERNMENT (LSA-SG)

- Complete a feedback survey
ARTS AT MICHIGAN

Criteria: All proposals must: Employ peer-to-peer leadership and expertise to promote undergraduate student learning through the arts; Instill a sense of the power of the arts to enhance understanding, build communities, and transform lives; and Create a significant impact on student life and learning at UM. In addition, proposals should meet one or more of the following criteria: expose students to unfamiliar art forms and communities; utilize the arts as means of addressing challenging topics; increase understanding of or proficiency in the arts; and involve diverse communities for cultural exchange.

ArtsEngine Funding Website
ArtsEngine Student Org Support Website
Several different opportunities:
- Student MicroGrants award up to $1,500 in support of interdisciplinary student projects which incorporate the arts as a central theme or component. Preference will be given to projects that engage at least two collaborators from at least two different schools and colleges.
- Arts Integrative Interdisciplinary Research (AiiR) Grants support graduate student research projects that integrate the arts or design with other disciplines, especially those in engineering and the sciences. Individual grants up to $3,000 can support existing research efforts as well as new areas of inquiry.
- ArtsEngine supports student organizations through frequent, small (up to $250) project-based grants, especially those that are being pursued by interdisciplinary student organization or are themselves interdisciplinary in nature.
- Jumpstart & Bridge support - (orgs that are less than 3 years old) - Up to 10/year – up to $500 each
- ArtsEngine sponsorship - (orgs that are 3+ years old) - Up to 5/year – up to $1,000/award/year

RSG will not fund food, alcohol, parties, club sports, and excessive honoraria: prefers to fund academic or cultural graduate student related events.

Bake sales: Registered groups may hold bake sales in Haven Hall, but must apply for space, visit this page.
CENTER FOR CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT
Bucket Drives: Groups may hold bucket drives on the Diag to raise money for charitable causes. CCI coordinates the use of the space and issues permits but does not provide buckets. To hold a bucket drive, you must also schedule either an info table or large event. There is no cost to reserve an info table space on the Diag, but large events require event insurance (at a cost). College Governments: Often individual college governments will fund activities directly related to their college.
